Apart from those mentioned, actively good would include The Bear, The Diplomat, Borgen. The Makanai, Somebody Somewhere, The Righteous Gemstones, The Boys, Severance, Gaslit, Only Murders in the Building, Andor, War of the Worlds (where are the other seasons Neon?). Some are genuinely great, some just cruising on charm or certain performances but you can finish them all having enjoyed it for at least a season. I watched all of the bonkers Mrs Davis just to wallow in the magnificent Betty Gilpin. Chimp Empire is amazing and all the actors are chimps.

Seems uncharitable to complain given what's on offer but Fleishman is in Trouble is a humourless talky slog stocked with irritating Manhattan ciphers.

Bojack Horseman is the only programme I felt that consistently connected with me over six seasons (okay it’s takes a little while to get going in season one). Maybe because it’s animated it doesn’t get talked about much, but they clearly knew where they were going with it and no program for me has delivered such a massive range of feels.

Totally agree. Loved Bojack and am halfway through rewatching the whole thing. It's such a journey. It cuts very deep in parts.

I can’t usually stomach much violence so The Sopranos & Breaking Bad weren’t for me. I’m loving Apple TV’s shows - For All Mankind, Severance and Slow Horses in particular. And Ted Lasso, though no one could call that show under appreciated. The first season of Rose Matefeo’s show Starstruck was amazing (& maybe I hang out in the wrong places) but no one seems to talk about it.

Those Apple shows are indeed all class. Then there's Foundation which is apparently based on a book I've read but I can't fathom how.

I didn’t even make it through a whole episode of Foundation

Loved first season of Slow Horses, must saddle up for season two. Severance is super great also. I feel like some of the AppleTV shows are trying a bit hard with stacked casts - "Look at who we have" - but I also think many of the shows I eventually sit down to watch on there are really pretty good.

Yeah hard agree, the star ensembles like House Party & the Today Show (not sure if I even have the names right) were not my jam either.

Agree with you on Breaking Bad-did finish it and Madmen-didn’t. But loved The Wire and The Sopranos, both shows wrapped up brilliantly. The new sub 30 minute format works for me. The Bear, Mozart in the Jungle, Sally4Ever, Flowers, High Maintenance... plenty more, all fantastic and easy to get through. Great fill ins between movies

My hot take is that I Hate Suzie is the best and most big show of the little shows. Writer Lucy Prebble was a producer on Succession and star Billie Piper is consistently fantastic at being the character)who may well be based on her in real life, at least it's easy to believe she's so good). It's the intelligent feminist viewing Hollywood just can't provide.

Loved the first season and agree based on that. I presume season 2 holds?

Yes but it's weird - darker, more intense, and only 3 episodes without an obvious ending...equally as compelling, but different in tone.
