Monday is movies. And sometimes TV. Today, the “Top” Ten Times I watched a raved-about show or film and thought, “really? REALLY?! That’s It?!?! THAT is what EVERYONE was on about?!”
No Dr Strangelove? Actually I’m a bit like that with The Shining. A feast for the eyes but too abstract to grab me or give me the frights. The bloody MCU is just exhausting but I’m definitely down with Logan. That one was a pleasant surprise.
I liked Jojo Rabbit and I totally disagree about Dr Strangelove, but couldn't argue with the concept or the rest of the list. I think theres a lot being made now because the focus groups think they want it and one of the streamers wrote the check?
You're so right - why does everything have to be like "I loved this" "I hated that" - so many things deserve a 2-5 out of 5, but too many are plonked at the top or bottom maybe by the explosion of vitriol or excitement (sometimes due to a director/star's involvement, seemingly more than anything else).
I don't agree with all of your "blah" top 10 (I'm a big Breaking Bad fan boy/completist - Better Call Saul has some flabby bits in the middle, a bit like this post, as does Breaking Bad, but the whole things hangs together) .
But i feel you on the whole of Marvel (what is the point?), Ted Lassoo (WHY?), Star Wars sequels (why was episode VII such a bad rehash of episode IV, why is Adam driver cosplaying Darth Vader with a whiney voice, and why was the ending/denouement such a crock of shit?), and the less said about JoJo Rabbit (beyond what you've already said) the better. Never understood the wave of critical claim for Dr Strangelove either - feels like Taika in 201whatever it was taking whatever Kubrick was taking in the '60s.

I need to see Logan, haven’t clocked that one yet, but seems like it would be the best.

Maybe Breaking Bad INSISTS upon itself?
