Went to the meat works as part of my Butchery Apprenticeship - and to be honest it was one of the most fascinating places I have visited. Somewhat surprised that they allowed school trips in...ever! I'm 99.999%sure they wouldn't now - it's not the happiest place on earth but good to know where your food comes from I suppose
Even sadder than the meat works was the chicken works however. Much darker (literally) to keep the chickens placid and just more depressing in general.
