i love ben harper and i absolutely love this album. i haven't heard a bad ben harper song yet. i was lucky enough to see him live after 'both sides of the gun' came out; i actually got to see him in new orleans and the album has songs based about hurricane katrina - it was very powerful to hear him yell 'they left them swimming for their lives down in new orleans; can't afford a gallon of gasoline.' definitely hit the spot in new orleans. i also got to see his album release show in memphis when he had a different backing band Ben Harper and Relentless7 and the album 'white lies for dark times' he covered the queen/bowie song 'under pressure' and he almost nailed a backflip off the kick drum - it was kinda hectic lol. my favorite time getting to see ben harper was when i went to birmingham alabama to see him and buddy guy played after. i did a write up about it... hope you like it. and so glad you are rediscovering ben harper. he has some new amazing albums. Give till it's gone 2011 is amazing. Winter is for lovers 2020 - is instramental and amazing - i listen to this album when i'm sick. bloodline maintenance 2022 is great. and wide open light 2023 is good.
