Here's an opinion from someone who has never read an SK novel, and it's not even in your Top 10. "Christine". No joke. Watched it with my kids 10 years ago and thought it was tight as a drum. As indelible and iconic as "The Shining" is, the last time I saw it (at the Terror-Fi Festival) I could see why SK might not like it. It's hammy. Which is fine, but Kubrick panders to Nicholson's ham, particularly in the last third when he seems to lose the thread of the shining itself. A masterpiece, maybe, but a flawed one.

The Shining. Probably my all time most favourite film. No idea how many times I’ve watched it. Still creeps me out.
