Guest Poet at Fringe Bar: Poetry in Motion November (Thursday, November 7)
Click here for the Facebook event
This Thursday, November 7, I’ll be the special guest ‘feature’ poet at the regular open mic night, Poetry in Motion, held at the Fringe Bar, in Wellington.
I’ll be debuting the published material from the brand new book, The Richard Poems — released this week! Copies will be available to buy on the night (for $20 cash) and I’ll be happy to sign them of course.
I’ll have a 20-minute (or so) session at the end of the regular open mic. I love the Poetry in Motion open mic night. It’s been my training ground and practice room for both of my volumes of poetry; chance to see if the poems hit with an audience in any way, and to be inspired by a huge variety of writers and readers.
The format is open-mic to begin with, 7.30pm. And then a short break, and then I’ll be doing the feature spot.
It’s $3-5 on the night, sliding scale. And you should turn up around 7.20 to register for the open mic, first timers not only welcome but encouraged, and it’s such a kind environment for writers debuting their new work, or having a public read for the very first time.
I’ll be reading some brand new, unpublished work too, perhaps, and one or two poems from my previous book, The Death of Music Journalism.
I’ll also be launching the book on Saturday in Wellington. See here for details or flyer below:
