A review of Chris Isaak, 29 years after I first/last saw him. Still great, in every way. Much the same, but for the passing of time. Which happens to us all. And he was funny and magnificent again.
Hope to see Chris on a visit to Tucson in May if there are any single tickets left. He is an amazing performer and I so enjoy his shows. And last time I saw him he sat in my lap! A fun time. He gets an A+ from this teacher! 🩷
Thanks for the review; glad you went back. Great music makes life worth it. Although ticket prices these days do give people a double take. The whole band makes talent look effortless, but we know it takes a lifetime to perfect. (just a note: there was typo on Hershel Yatovitz).
Yes, part of why I almost didn’t go was price, checked back 2 days before and there’d be a price-drop. Which also isn’t ideal, as the keenest fans are effectively punished for being first in. But I couldn’t afford to pay $170 or even $129 — but $89 was do-able. I pay for almost all of my “review” tickets. Reviewing out of love and habit I guess… :)
I’d love to. Unfortunately, they make it rather difficult, they expect far too much (in terms of sample chapters etc) and pretty much price you out of the game (you make nothing for a lot of time spent). So, effectively, the authors are usually academics — since they can consider it ‘research’ and a publishing output connected to their main gig.
Thanks Simon, for writing this review. All the way from the Netherlands I'm happy to read it as a Chris Isaak/Silvertone fan. You described it exactly as it was. Images come to mind. Thanks. Can't wait to see them this summer. Greetings Susan

Totally agree with every word Simon, so glad I stumped up too and enjoyed a master entertainer!
