When I was about 11 or 12 I played softball and a team mate took me home to his place after a game. His mother was still in bed with some guy no one knew and his older brother had a tent set up in the back yard. There were people drinking, smoking, swearing, making out...I was scared as shit. But what I remember most was a debate over which band was better, The Beatles or the Stones. It was intelligent and lively and punctuated by sides from each band. Being from a die hard Beatles household the Stones didn’t get a lot of airplay but that afternoon in Naenae was an ear opener and laid the foundation for a lifelong love of their music, their swag, and their relevance in my life.

As we get older we get better at choosing which battles matter. This one is definitely worth arguing about!
