I think the soundtrack for Beverley Hills Cop is a contender. Highlights are the Pointer Sisters' "Neutron Dance", Glenn Frey's "The Heat Is On" and of course the iconic "Axel F" theme tune!
Yep, I love all those early films Knopfler scored, Cal and Last Exit to Brooklyn esp, as I might not have got to them without the scores. Princess Bride I'm sure I'd have loved anyway. I feel like the spirit of Local Hero has never quite been captured elsewhere, despite a few filmmakers trying.
