It’s only now – my third copy of the album – that I ponder why The Ballad of John and Yoko is not on an album called The Beatles’ Ballads. It’s surely a ballad. But no. Here we don’t have that many story-songs, otherwise Rocky Raccoon would be on here too, right? Instead it’s the “Love Songs” definition of ballads…
