The Beatles Playlists
I'm a little bit obsessed with The Beatles. Especially right now. So I made some playlists...
I was raised on The Beatles. And in turn raised my son on The Beatles. I don’t mind who does and doesn’t like listening to The Beatles, but I can’t see myself ever stopping. I mean, sure, there are pauses. I feel like I know the catalogue very well. But then I’ll get on a run and just listen to everything. Including some bootlegs and all the officially released alternate versions…right now I’m having a huge burn through all of it; all the solo catalogues as well. And basically anything related.
I’m watching the movies, the docos, and listening to podcasts. I’ve gone in super-deep, and I’m not sure when I’m coming out the other side. I’ve no concerns around coming up for air frankly.
Anyway, I made some playlists, as a new way in, a new way of listening to old songs I know so well. And then I thought that I should maybe share them. So for anyone seeing this, I hope you enjoy:
First up Beatle Paul:
And then Beatle John:
George Harrison wrote 22 songs for The Beatles - well, he wrote plenty more. But they allowed him to record 22 of his songs during his time as a Beatle. Here they are in one handy place:
Ringo only wrote two songs that ended up on Beatles albums, but they often wrote a song for him to sing - there’s one on pretty much every album. And so I put them all in one place. Ringo’s Starr Time - his time to shine:|
Here’s a fictional attempt at making a “final” Beatles album out of the songs from their first solo records:|
And someone once told me about this game, you have to keep every single song from The White Album, but you must re-order them by putting your favourite song first. Then next favourite, next favourite and so on, all the way to your least favourite song at the end. You change the order based on your preference. So have a look at my effort and maybe you could also make your own:
And finally, my idea of a truly definitive Very Best of The Beatles:
