The Autism Diaries?! (Part 86)
A new occasional series here at “Sounds Good”
Elastic bookmarks, small containers, tiny bags — especially felt, particularly drawstring, must have a ‘feel’ about them as well as a function — and there are other things that catch my eye, time to time. Right now it’s the extreme marketing of this flat drink bottle. It’s a rectangle, so that it packs into your bag with your books and things. And I never knew I wanted it until I saw it, and now it’s almost all I can think about — and I’m telling myself I was actually always thinking about it. I’m also getting angry at the comments on the posts that worry about how you might clean it, and the replies saying that you don’t need to clean it anyway, and the replies to those replies saying that it comes with cleaning instructions. What the fuck are the actual cleaning instructions for a drink bottle: “Clean It”. Is that all it says on a piece of paper rolled up and placed in the bottle? Anyway, I mean to have one. And I cannot stop thinking about it. But I know I don’t need one. I know the price is unnecessary and unrealistic and unsustainable (you can’t have just one new favourite drink bottle, that’s too much pressure!) So, yeah. That’s where I am at right now. Sitting at home, making sure I don’t order the new drink bottle I do not need / absolutely have to have!

The struggle is real. I have had that flat rectangular water bottle in my cart soooooooo many times. Then I look at the 23 unused water bottles in my cupboard and the favourite one that I use every day. Will it be so good that it knocks my favourite out - or will it wastefully join the others never to be used? 🤷🏻♀️
This sounds uncomfortably familiar
