It's not often, these days, that I play a Groove Armada album right through – but I am always happy when I do. And many of their very best singles sneak into playlists, or become the main feature even after all these years.
I saw the band close to 20 years ago – when, I guess it’s fair to say they were in their absolute prime – and the memories of that gig stay strong with me; if anyone ever seemed surprised that I would like the band, I reel out a yarn about how amazing it was to see them live. All the hits. Live musicians. A rotating cast of lead singers to do justice to all the songs and styles.
So now the band is in town to celebrate its 25-year anniversary and I wanted to see if the magic was still there.
