It’s possibly the first time I’ve listened to Real Life by Joan As Police Woman on a Saturday morning, and it’s the first time I’ve listened to it in a wee while — but instantly I have so many memories and stories associated with this album, and this artist. And any time I play her debut, I think back to first hearing it. One of the perks (back then) of being a reviewer.
Earnestly, I wrote to Joan Wasser (she records and tours under the name Joan As Police Woman) on MySpace(!) She wrote back! I said something-something about loving the album. And she said something in reply about hoping to one day make it down to New Zealand. And I typed back with such speed that there was bound to be a randoM capital letter or tWo — maybe even a typpo — that we’d love to see her down here.
