Jazz genius Joey DeFrancesco has died. He was just 51.
I first heard DeFrancesco on an incredible trio album with drummer Elvin Jones and guitarist and leader, John McLaughlin. Joey was the junior, but he was used to that – he toured with Miles Davis and played keys on his last album from the 1980s – really his last fully realised studio album – Amandla.
