Poem: Set For Life

A poem not entirely about haircuts.

Richard’s mum booked him in
for 13 haircuts — all at once, which
is to say she made the bookings
at the start of the year.

”It’s brilliant”, he said, with a laugh.
”Everything clean and tidy and sorted”.
His mum beaming in the background,
she was never more proud, could not

handle any scruff. A haircut every
four weeks would keep everything
clean and all would be in order.
Yes, you see, he’d be set for life.
