Poem: Locked Into The Same Game

Sherman Alexie said the last song on the mixtape was the one that held

the promises you could not take back. And I think about that any time I am making a playlist.

I make the last song a giant absurdity – something grandiose, or instead, sometimes, just

a tiny little coda.  I’m sure I’m dodging the bullet. But I’m still locked into playing the game.
