New Podcast, Who Dis?
Wednesday is about books. And writing. And reading. Today, The first episode of our new Stephen King Podcast - We All Float Down Here
It’s no secret that I’m a huge Stephen King fan.
It’s come up a few times here at “Sounds Good!”
Most recently I launched the very slow Stephen King bookclub
Book by book, I’m going to go through the King catalogue and give you my thoughts.
Well, it’s also no huge secret that my son Oscar is a big book fan. I’ve told you as much:
And he’s talked directly about being a King fan on one of his videos:
So, we’ve combined forces for a father-son podcast, going through the King books in order. Oscar believes a podcast to be a video format — so this is new to me. He (and I) would love it if you’d follow our YouTube channel that is dedicated to the new King podcast/video-show we called We All Float Down Here. Like and subscribe as they say.
Next up, of course will be Salem’s Lot which I have never previously read. I’m 100 pages in right now…
With these podcasts we’ll be talking about the book, our introduction to the work and associated things like TV shows or movies, and anything related from the King lore, or the particular book’s world. Just stop me from trying to shoehorn in a wee chat about the movie’s soundtrack!
We do hope to have guests contributing to some future episodes — if you’re a huge King fan (or know of keen King fans) and have a particular favourite book and you’d like to talk with us about it do drop a comment here or send me a message:
And it’s worth me telling you that every aspect of the production of this podcast is overseen by Oscar. He researches and edits and uploads, he created the intro card and adds the timestamps, he films, designs the look and feel; he is the video king. I just turn up and yap. My major credential and contribution to the world (sorry!) since about 2002.
Anyway, this is our nervous first episode. I probably carry (pardon the pun) the chat a bit more heavily in this one, and I’ll be backseating a lot more in future episodes. We’re going to possibly get into some arguments, some disagreements, maybe even some very heated discussions. But just as often it’ll be a case of a hard-agree. But I love the fact that we are coming at this a solid generation apart — and I’ve been a lapsed King fan, returning to the fold. I was about Oscar’s age when I first discovered Stephen King. I gave up reading his work for years, and sold all my books, only to rebuild a collection that now includes multiple editions of some titles, even some copies in languages I don’t speak. (Deep nerd alert!)
Oscar has his own pristine collection. And we’ll show our various editions, and any ephemera we’ve collected in future episodes.
We will look at making this an audio-only option as well, and adding to Spotify and the usual channels, with time. But for right now it’s on YouTube, and I hope you like. Please share it with the King fan in your life. Or watch and give us comments and likes and subscribes and thoughts and pitches for future content, including offering yourselves or someone you know up as a guest for a particular episode.
But for now, hot off the press, it’s Carrie — the first episode of We All Float Down Here:
How dare you reveal the end after a mere fifty years. 😂
Love this ❤️
