What a thoroughly strange album this is. And I mean that as no sort of compliment at all – a confused, confusing mess of sub-80s throwback, disguised as some twist of alt-country by virtue of its maker spiriting herself away to Lyttelton, the home of hackneyed “roots” music since around 2006.
