Today’s fix is The Joshua Tree by U2
I am broadly okay with The Joshua Tree by the way. I like it. I was going to say, “I’ve always liked it” but that’s not quite true. For, whilst it was one of the first albums I bought with my own money, and one of the first cassette tapes I bought — getting me into collecting music — there was a time when I really hated it. But I was reacting to too much U2 being in the world. And having far too much fun writing an OTT scathing column, that I had hoped was something a tiny bit close to the first footsteps taken by the mythical “Reaper” who used to eviscerate pop cultural aftefacts in the back of one of the Brit music mags back in the day:
