I first heard Boy Harsher when their debut dropped; I was in the lucky position of still being a reviewer for a newspaper, receiving fresh albums to check out each week. It was the very best way to find new music. And I was instantly a fan. I couldn’t put my finger on why I loved their brand of darkwave synthpop at the time, but last year when they released an actual movie, and accompanying soundtrack, I realised what horror-film fans they were; how that had informed the work.
So what a treat to have them in New Zealand.
