Gig Preview: Dirty Spoons on the bill for Folk-elmorn @ Vogelmorn, Friday, June 14, 2024
Dirty Spoons playing Vogelmorn this Friday night as part of “Folk-elmorn” line-up of acoustic-based performers
We are thrilled to be part of this line-up, a quality gig in a wonderful venue. With music from 7pm on your Friday night. Doors open at 6.30, so get in and secure your spot. There’s great food and drink at the Vogelmorn, and then the bands are on upstairs — it’s $20 on the door, or you could buy your ticket first for just $15.
Here’s the lineup:
Ari Leason (alt folk)
Donal & The Bucks unplugged (acoustic rock)
Dirty Spoons (punk folk)
Don & the Divorcees (folk)
Bottom Bunk Club (punk folk)
And all the band-bios and venue info:
DIRTY SPOONS don’t care where it’s been. They’ll stir in country, pop, and indie to make song a bit like miniskirts, you know, short enough to hold your attention but long enough to cover the essentials: death, fishing, internet dating, lost dogs – just the usual song topics. Something for everyone.
DON AND THE DIVORCEES is a collaboration among three of Wellington’s more interesting songwriters - Beans Maries, Hollie Wright and Don Mackay. They will perform a mixed set “Crosby Stills and Nash” style. Expect lots of stringy things and harmonies.
BOTTOM BUNK CLUB is a punk/folk trio that combines heavy-handed chord bashing with heavy-handed metaphors to create catchy songs with more hooks than a fishing boat. Join them to celebrate the release of their new single 'Puke'. Despite your better judgement, you might find yourself singing along.
Vogelmorn Upstairs is not a wheelchair accessible building. There is an accessible bathroom in the space. This is an all ages venue but those under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a designated adult after 8pm. The Vogelmorn Precinct is a community space located in a residential area. With that in mind, the team ask that you be kind to others' and that when you leave the gig, you do so quietly to avoid disturbing our neighbours.
The Upstairs Bar and Smoked and Pickled Restaurant will be open from 3pm, to book a table for pre-show kai email Alice at smokednpickled@gmail.com
Fresh from playing MOON last month, and our in store at Music Planet, Dirty Spoons will be ready for another ripper set:
